At 6:39 pm Sunday, Contra Costa County Fire was dispatched to a report of a 6 vehicle crash on westbound Highway 4 which was blocking all lanes of traffic.
According to CHP, all lanes were blocked with as many as 6 vehicles involved.
By 7:00 pm, it was reported that two people were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries while they were assessing 14 other patients on scene.
By 7:41 pm, all lanes were open per CHP.

Why don’t the CHP give us some information how this happened? How did the 6 collide? Who did what? These things are never followed up on.
Can probably tell you real quick …. driving too fast, unsafe lane changes, following too close. That’s how this happened. Drivers driving like they have their heads up their asses, and they learned how to drive from watching NASCAR.
What difference does it make as to how? this is just one more example of the notorious Highway 4 nonsense. Highway 4 is Dodge City. Period. There is no safe time to travel it. We have far too many idiot drivers in East County.
Highway 4 stretches for many, many miles. Where did this crash occur? Near which offramp? Bailey Road, Hillcrest? Railroad? Where I-4 meets 680? Just saying westbound I-4 is not much information.
