Update 3.0: Antioch Mayors Race Separated by 129 Votes, Killings Increases Lead in Pittsburg

The Contra Costa County Elections Office released updated results Friday afternoon from the November 8 election where they continue to count votes.

According to the elections office, the results are still unofficial.

This update will include the balance of the vote by mail ballots that we received on election day at the polls as well as in the mail through this past Monday. It is expected that this update will add roughly 22,000 votes to our totals.

antioch-mayors-race-2016In Antioch, challenger Sean Wright (34.73%) has maintained his election night lead in the Mayor’s race against incumbent Wade Harper (34.30%). However, in each update since the election, Harper continues to close the gap as Wright maintains a 129-vote lead.

In the Antioch city council race, Lamar Thorpe continues to increase his lead as he has collected 11,920 votes (26.95%) and it appears he will become the new Mayor Pro Tem with Monica Wilson retaining her seat.  Wilson has a comfortable l Wilson has a 1,144-vote lead over Mary Rocha who is third.

In Oakley, incumbents Doug Hardcastle and Kevin Romick have each won re-election. Claire Alaura appears set to win the third available seat as she now has a 157 vote lead over Paul Seger.

In Pittsburg, Jelani Killings (25.86%) increased his lead over Ben Johnson  (24.80%) for the second council seat. Entering the week, it was Johnson who had the 29-vote lead, as of Friday, Killings now holds a 254 vote lead.

In the Town of Discovery Bay, Bill Pease (34.81%) will retain his seat. The second spot available is still up for grabs as Bill Mayer (23.31%) increased his lead and now has an 85-vote lead over Mark Simon (22.30%).

The county elections said the next update will come on Wednesday, November 23, 2016.

The following election results were released Friday (11/18) at 3:20 pm by the Contra Costa County Elections Office for local county, city, school district and special district offices.
