Updated: Man Dies on Kirker Pass Road After Disabled Vehicle Struck

The Concord Police Department announced that northbound Kirker Pass Road between the City of Concord and the City of Pittsburg is closed due to an injury crash.

The roadway is expected to be closed for several hours as of said Concord Police in an alert issued at 7:30 pm. The accident occurred at 6:58 pm near the Concord Pavilion.

The alert issued stated:

The Concord Police Department is currently investigating a vehicle collision with injuries on Northbound Kirker Pass Rd. near the top of the hill.  As a result, all northbound Kirker Pass Rd. traffic is being re-routed at Concord Blvd.  Please use alternate routes.

According to CLAYCORD.com, they are reporting this is a possible fatal crash.

Subject: AUTO VS AUTO COLLISION

Concord, CA (November 18, 2016) – On Saturday, November 18 , 2016, at approximately 6:56 PM, Concord Police Officers responded to the 2000 block of Kirker Pass Road regarding an auto vs auto collision.  Officers arrived on-scene and located a 63 year old White male adult at the scene who was non responsive.

The preliminary investigation indicates that victim’s vehicle became disabled in the roadway and while sitting inside of his vehicle, it was struck by another motorist traveling on Kirker Pass Road.  He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  The name of the deceased victim is being withheld at this time.  The second involved driver sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.

The Concord Police Traffic Unit responded and continued the investigation which is ongoing.  Anyone with information about his case is asked to call the Concord Police Department Traffic Investigator Lawrence at (925)-671-5097.
