Union Households Provided $10k in Donations Throughout Contra Costa County

Major kudos go out to the Contra Costa union households as they raised $10,000 at their annual Black and White Rock and Roll Ball Fundraiser last weekend. These funds were just spread out just in time this holiday season throughout Contra Costa County.

While I won’t get into specifics, I did want to share some of the purchases that were made with these funds which include 4-Nooks for the special education classrooms at Oakley Unified School District.

The Contra Costa Community Fund  also bought 120 winter coats through the Knights of Columbus for those in need countywide, we made a contribution to the St. Anthony Food pantry which will provide over 400 Christmas dinners to those who can’t afford one and we adopted 4 families for Christmas providing gifts, clothes and food for each.

The Contra Costa Community Fund is funded entirely by the proceeds of their Annual Black and White Rock and Roll Ball fundraiser, held each year at the Antioch Fairgrounds and hosted by the Contra Costa County Labor Council,  the Contra Costa Building Trades and the Union Locals located throughout the county.

As a parent of a special education student here in Oakley I appreciate the generous gift! Technology is a critical tool for reaching our children and is a wonderful resource for our teachers! The Nooks will be such a great addition to the special education program here in Oakley! Thank you so very much!!

Public employee unions are very evil and unhealthy. The members are a different story. Some may say that the members are the unions. They are except the union leaders are the grinches. How much of this ten thousand came from public employee homes and how much from private union homes? Public employee unions suck and should be outlawed like before.

This is a wonderful thing for the community and doesn’t matter where it came from.

That’s right Frank. Many many families in East County gave a lot this year not just union families.
