Two East County Football Players Airlifted to Hospital After Serious Injuries

On Friday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to both Freedom High School and Heritage High School after two football sustained traumatic injuries during football games.

The first incident occurred at 8:28 pm at Heritage High School where a subject suffered a traumatic injury during a football game. The subject was transported to the baseball field where they were airlifted to a local hospital.

An hour later, firefighters responded to Freedom High School where a subject also sustained a traumatic injury during the football game. The subject was transported to the soccer field where a medical helicopter transported the subject to a local hospital.

No further details were released on either incident.

My nephew out with an injury for the season plays for one of these high schools. My prayers and thoughts for these young men and their families. Wishing them a speedy recovery.
