Summer Youth Bus Pass Offers Discounted Rides All Summer

by ECT

With a new, lower price and three participating transit agencies, getting around this summer is more affordable and convenient than ever

WALNUT CREEK, CA – 511 Contra Costa has teamed up with County Connection, Tri Delta Transit, and WestCAT to offer the new Summer Youth Pass. For only $35, youth ages 6-18 can take unlimited bus rides all summer long, June 1 through August 31, 2019.

The Summer Youth Pass allows youth the opportunity to reach a summer job, take a class, and enjoy their favorite summertime activities and reach destinations throughout Contra Costa County. The Summer Youth Pass provides three months of rides for a lower price than one regular monthly pass. It is an affordable and convenient way for 6-18 year olds to get around during the summer.

New for 2019, the Summer Youth Pass is now valid on three transit agencies: County Connection, Tri Delta Transit, and WestCAT. Tri Delta Transit’s CEO Jeanne Krieg says, “We are excited to work in partnership with 511 Contra Costa, County Connection, and WestCAT so that the youth of Contra Costa County can experience all the area has to offer.” With three local transit operators participating in this year’s promotional pass, children and teens can reach more cities and destinations than ever.

The Contra Costa Transportation Authority’s countywide Transportation Demand Management Program known as 511 Contra Costa, and its partners understand that making transportation accessible and affordable for youth provides greater opportunities for education, socializing with friends, and reaching jobs.

This pass regularly costs $60, but with a generous subsidy by 511 Contra Costa of $25 per pass, it makes this a much more affordable option for Contra Costa County families. Funding for the program is provided by the Contra Costa Transportation Authority and the Bay Area Air Quality Transportation Fund for Clean Air.

Passes are available at the new 511 Contra Costa Online Store. Passes can also be purchased in person at the administrative offices of County Connection, Tri Delta Transit, and WestCAT. To purchase online and for more information visit 511cc.org/youthpass
