A sexually violent child predator has been released in Concord, according to the Concord Police Department.
On March 21, 2016, the Department of State Hospitals notified the Concord Police Department that Robert B. Bates was being discharged and transported to Contra Costa County where he would temporarily reside as a transient.
Bates was conditionally released from custody pursuant from an order issued by a judge with the Superior Court of Contra Costa County. Robert Bates is currently living in short term rental units within the City of Concord.
Note: Originally, Bates was to be released into the 2400 block of Dutch Slough Road in Oakley on the Bethel Island border, but that was later changed.
Bates has been classified as a Sexually Violent Predator, according to police.
Bates has various felony convictions including Lewd and Lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age, Oral Copulation with a minor under 14 years of age or by force or fear, Oral Copulation of a minor under 16 years of age where the offender is 21 or more years of age, Lewd or Lascivious acts with a child 14 or 15 years of age, and Annoy or Molest a child under 18 years of age, police said.
The Concord Police Department is not responsible for the selection of the proposed living site, according to police.
The purpose of this release of information is to allow members of the public to protect themselves and their children from sex offenders, police said.

Hey I guess they have to make room somewhere for all of those new incoming non-violent drug offenders.
When Polly Klass was kidnapped and murdered the government pretended that 3 strikes would lock sexual predators away for good. 3 strikes turned out to target petty criminals of color and keep caucasian rapists on the streets raping children. I think most of the state lawmakers are perverted pedophiles and if they made laws to keep sexual predators off of streets, those politicians would be in jail.
I am white and I wish they would execute ALL that hurt children.

I have a comment for what should be done with this person.can not post. Think of the Childers lives he has RUINED. HE SHOULD BE BACK IN JAIL FOR THE REST OF HIS NATURAL LIFE. SOLITARY CONFINEMENT. THERE IS NO PUNISHMENT BAD ENOUGH FOR HIM, WAKE UP JUDGES THINK OF THE CHILDERN.
they should give sexual predators a choice too. to either sit in jail the rest of their life or have their junk cut off. sexual predators have forfeit their right to live amongst us same as murderers.
