The Contra Costa County Public Works Department will fully close Deer Valley Road between Balfour Road and Marsh Creek for a period of two weeks beginning on Monday, Sept. 29 through October 12 for the purpose of safety improvements.
The improvements include shoulder widening, straightening curves, and improving visibility at two locations south of Briones Valley Road. Local residents and emergency vehicles will have access.
Signs and electronic message boards will inform motorist of the upcoming closure and provide detour directions using Balfour Road, State Route 4, and Marsh Creek Road.
The County secured a High Risk Rural Road Grant for the project to fund approximately 90% of the project costs with the remainder funded by local road funds.
