Senator DeSaulnier Statement on Looming BART Strike

by ECT

Mark DeSaulnier

Today, Senator Mark DeSaulnier (D- Concord) issued the following statement regarding the pending BART Strike.

“The top priority for BART and its labor unions must be to continue to engage in serious negotiations and avert a possible strike. I know that it is no easy task to find a solution that is fair to workers, is mindful of budgetary constraints, and ensures BART delivers top-notch safety for both riders and workers. BART is a major component of the Bay Area economy, and another prolonged strike could be devastating for the commuters who rely upon BART every day.”

“While I am looking into legislation that could prevent future strikes, it should not distract from the need for BART and labor to remain engaged in negotiations now. I have been, and will continue to be, a strong supporter of organized labor. The intent of any legislation will not be to simply stop strikes, but to ensure we produce equitable outcomes for workers and commuters during future negotiations.”

Desaulner is a union supporter no matter what. See where his political contributions come from. The Governor of California should do exactly what Reagan did with airport controllers. You strike again we replace you, period, end of story. I will believe Desaulners non striking legislation when it is actually done. Desaulner has played both sides before. He should be working for the people not the union. Governor Brown declare an emergency to continue public transportation. If BART workers do not show up consider they abandoned their job. Unemployment is too high. There are millions of people wanting a career at $75,000 plus perks a year.

Spoken like a true politician.

Really tired of being held hostage by unions. Here’s a point that needs to be made–BART has janitors that make MORE than East Contra Costa Firefighters.
