Senator DeSaulnier Appointed to Delta Protection Commission

by ECT

Mark DeSaulnier

Things continue to be looking up for Contra Costa County as State Senator Mark DeSaulnier has now been appointed to serve as an ex-officio member of the Delta Protection Commission and replaces Senator Lois Wolk.

This now gives the Contra Costa County a strong support base in the fight to protect the Delta as Senator DeSaulnier joins Assemblyman Jim Frazier, Supervisor Mary Piepho, and Oakley City Councilwoman Diane Burgis.

The Delta Planning Commission has two ex-officio members—one from the Assembly, and one from the Senate. The Senator and Assemblymember appointed must represent districts that include the Delta.

The next meeting of the Delta Planning Commission will be held on Thursday, March 28 at the San Joaquin County WorNet Building (56 S. Lincoln Street) in Stockton. The meeting begins at 5:30 pm.

DeSaulnier Appointed to Delta Protection Commission

Senator Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord) has been appointed to serve as an ex-officio member of the Delta Protection Commission. The mission of the Delta Protection Commission is to adaptively protect, maintain, and where possible, enhance and restore the overall quality of the Delta environment consistent with the Delta Protection Act, and the Land Use and Resource Management Plan for the Primary Zone.

“Serving on the Delta Protection Commission is a privilege, but it also comes with great responsibility,” DeSaulnier said. “The Delta does not just showcase the natural beauty of our state. It plays an important role ecologically and economically in California—including Eastern Contra Costa County, which I am proud to represent. I welcome the opportunity to continue to serve as a strong advocate for protecting, preserving, and restoring the Delta environment.”
