San Ramon: Man in Cardiac Arrest Saved by Off-Duty Officer

by ECT

The San Ramon Police Department announced today that an off-duty officer took lifesaving action at Club Sport after a man suffered from cardiac arrest while exercising.

Police say Corporal Williams (who was off-duty) and Officer Scully took aggressive lifesaving actions, combined with the reduced response time created by the new San Ramon  Valley 9-1-1 Communications Center, contributed to saving a man’s life.

Below is the email by San Ramon Valley Fire Department Captain J Sinclear:

Chief,

I am happy to report the patient (field save) from Club Sport (Inc #5094) is improving as of this morning. I would like to let SRPD Chief know what an incredible job his officers did on this call. Upon our arrival we found Officer Scully (on duty) and Officer Tammy Williams (off duty) performing CPR. Prior to our arrival the officers had used an AED on the patient, shocking him twice. It is my belief the outcome could have been grim for this man if the officers did not take the aggressive lifesaving actions they did. I feel this is a great example of what an incredible job SRPD does on a daily basis and I hope these officers get recognized for their incredible efforts to the community.

Thanks
