On Friday, November 26th, shortly before 9:00 pm, San Leandro Police Officers were sent to investigate an armed carjacking having occurred on the 100 block of Lexington Avenue. The victim, in this case, was forcefully removed from his vehicle by four suspects while delivering pizza. While this was occurring, one suspect produced a firearm and demanded the victim’s car keys. The suspects entered the victim’s vehicle and fled the area.

On Sunday, November 28th, about 9:00 am, an officer was patrolling the area of Walmart, 15555 Hesperian Boulevard, when the carjacked vehicle was located on the south side of the business. The officer observed several people occupying the vehicle. At one point, the occupants exited the carjacked vehicle and entered Walmart. Additional officers were summoned to the area to assist with this investigation.

A police perimeter was established around the vehicle and business. Moments later, the suspects exited the store. San Leandro Police arrested two juveniles, ages 12 and 13, for their connection to the carjacking. The remaining subjects, all juveniles, were released to the care of family.

“We are thankful to have alert officers who share information with one and other. In this case, our midnight officers presented this investigation to our dayshift officers who diligently looked for and found the carjacked vehicle,” said Lieutenant Matt Barajas.
