Players Wanted: Freedom vs. Liberty Alumni Football Game

by ECT

Liberty Bell game

One of the East Bay’s best football rivalries will strap it on and continue the battle for the third year in a row, Alumni Style!  The alumni Falcons from Freedom High School and the Liberty Lions will go at it once again with kick-off at 7:00pm on Saturday, September 14, 2013.

This year the game will be played at Freedom HS and the Falcons are determined to avoid another loss at the hands of the Lion alumni. The Lions however have other plans and want to prove to the younger Falcons that just like fine wine, age and experience will once again bring the Bell trophy home to Liberty for the 3rd year in a row!

Matthew Pirnat, coach of the Freedom Alumni team said last year Liberty, “blew us out of the water in a high scoring game of 40-12.”

This game promises to have the same spirit and excitement as last year’s game, including pre-game and halftime activities.  Sponsorships are available to support these two great schools and their alumni that will once again do battle for the Alumni Bell Trophy! Tickets to this event will be sold at the door for $10 per person.

Registration is not closed. A player has up until game day at 4pm to show up and register to be able to play. The cost is $85 dollars which takes care of equipment rental, uniform rental, and facility rental. Both sides have approximately 20-25 people signed up to play.

Each team has a maximum of 40 players. Each player that would like to play must have attended either Liberty or Freedom high.  Players can register online at www.alumniathleticsusa.com or call Kevin @ (707) 849-6777.  Players get to pick their jersey number as you pay, so those who sign up first and pay get first choice at numbers.

According to the website this morning, the Freedom team has 27 spots still available while Liberty has 21 spots available.

Pirnat encourages alumni to sign up.  “It’s one more chance to play under the lights,” he said, “and put on the pads one last time.”

Both alumni football teams will be hosting a car wash Sunday, September 8th at Freedom High School in Oakley.  Donations will be accepted and proceeds will go towards the athletic department at both schools.  Discounted tickets to the Annual Liberty Bell Football Game will be sold for $8.
