Nov 4: Full Closure Southbound State Route 242-Concord

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled an overnight weekend FULL closure of southbound State Route-242 (SR-242) in Concord to perform major highway maintenance.
During the major maintenance effort, Caltrans crews will pave, repair guardrails, overhead highway lights, clear drains and pick-up litter and debris along the highway.
To ensure worker and public safety, SR-242 will be CLOSED from the SR-242/State Route 4 (SR-4) Interchange to the SR-242/Solano Way Interchange.
The closure starts Saturday November 4, 2017 at 10:30 PM and concludes on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 9:30 AM.
In addition to the SR-242 closure, the following ramps will be CLOSED overnight:
SR-242 Ramps CLOSED Overnight: 
  • Southbound and Northbound Port Chicago Hwy on-ramp to Southbound SR-242
  • Eastbound and Westbound Olivera Road on-ramp to Southbound SR-242
  • Southbound SR-242 off-ramp to Solano Way
SR-4 and I-680 Overnight Weekend Detours 
Motorists traveling on westbound and eastbound SR-4 past the SR-242/SR-4 interchange will be detoured to Southbound I-680. Detour signs will be posted. Detours on some adjacent surface streets will also be in effect.

Motorists traveling on southbound I-680 past the SR-242/I-680 interchange will be detoured to exit I-680 at the Concord Avenue/Contra Costa Boulevard exit, southbound on Contra Costa Boulevard, then eastbound on Concord Avenue and re-enter SR-242 from Concord Avenue.

California Highway Patrol will be on site during night closures. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel time.
