McNerney Calls on Local Parties to Make the Delta’s Voice Heard

McNerney

Washington, D.C. – Today, in anticipation of a coming announcement related to the Governor’s plan to build a tunnel that would devastate local farmers, families and small business owners in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, Congressman Jerry McNerney (D-Stockton) called on local residents to take action to prevent the Governor’s tunnel plan from moving forward.  He encouraged citizens to attend the California Natural Resources Agency’s public meeting on March 20th in Sacramento to allow for public comment on the initial details of the plan that will be revealed this Thurs., March 14, 2013.  McNerney also encouraged citizens to send letters of opposition as well as their personal stories of how they stand to be affected by the Governor’s flawed plan via mail to any of his offices, as well as via social media.

“I have been opposed to any plan that includes building a tunnel that would devastate our region and cost billions of dollars and countless jobs.  We must continue to make our voices heard.  Any plan that does not have the interests of the Delta region at its heart is unacceptable.  We must make sure that input from all parties is included in any such plan, which is why I’m urging people to join me in sending our message to the Governor and the Obama Administration,” said Congressman McNerney.
