At 12:10 pm Friday, Contra Costa County firefighters were dispatched to a report of a vegetation fire in the 2700 block of Franklin Canyon road in the City of Martinez.
It was reported at the time of dispatch, a light column of smoke was observed.
By 12:18 pm, it was reported the fire was approximately 2-acres and spreading. They were mobilizing for structure protection as the fire was headed up a hill. Air tankers were requested as homes were threatened.
By 12:45 pm, the fire was estimated at 5-7 acres per the battalion chief on scene.
By 1:10 pm, it was reported to have grown to around 25-acres and 75 percent contained.
