Update via Pittsburg PD

At approximately 6:20 this morning, officers responded to a motorcycle vs. truck collision on W Leland Rd at Southwood Dr.  Medical personnel also responded and pronounced the motorcyclist deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on W Leland Rd and the truck was traveling northbound on Southwood Dr, turning onto W Leland Rd when the collision occurred.  The driver of the truck remained on scene and is cooperative.  Impairment does not appear to be a factor with the driver of the truck.

Our Fatal Collision Response Team and Investigations personnel will be continuing the investigation to include identifying the motorcyclist.  It is anticipated that this area/intersection will remain closed for several hours.

I guess it is true that motorcycles are dangerous. My condolences to the motorcyclist who lost his life. RIP.

Motorcycle’s are not dangerous. Drivers who turn left in front of cyclists are.
