At 6:15 pm Friday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District was dispatched to a report of a head-on crash on Vasco Road near Camino Diablo in Byron. It was reported that up to four vehicles were involved.
By 6:25 pm, AMR arrived on scene to a 2-vehicle crash with major damage and two vehicles fully engulfed.
Engine 59 arrived on scene reporting 5-vehicle crash with major damage, 1 vehicle on fire. A third AMR unit was requested.
As of 6:34 pm, BC5 reported 1 moderate injury with 6 total patients. Two people were trapped in a vehicle. A total of 4 AMR units requested to the scene.
By 6:45 pm, a SIGALERT was issued as both directions were blocked
