Antioch: Several People Pepper Sprayed in Fight Near Dallas Ranch Middle School

by ECT

At approximently 3:00 pm Friday, the Antioch Police Department responded to a large fight that occurred near Dallas Ranch Middle School on Mount Hamilton Drive in the City of Antioch.

It was reported originally that two adults were fighting in front of the school which ended up in a larger fight.

Antioch Police, however, stated multiple students were fighting which resulted in older siblings getting involved which then led to parents getting involved.

Several people were hit by the pepper spray and least one adult and one youth were treated from injuries related to being pepper sprayed–the adult was a parent who stepped into help stop the fight. They were treated by AMR and Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters and released at scene.

According to Antioch Police spokesperson Darryl Saffold, the pepper spray was used by one of the involved parties in the fight, not Antioch Police and it was unclear who sprayed the pepper spray.
Antioch Police are still investigating and no enforcement has been taken at this time. The Antioch Unified School District deferred questioned to the Antioch Police Department since the incident occurred off campus.
