Local Candidates Filed: Let Silly Season Begin

by ECT

The candidate filling period has ended and we can now enter silly season in the days leading up to November 6, 2012. The list bellow highlights races I will be following and commenting on throughout election season.

I would like to disclose that I will be running for one of three seats available for Ironhouse Sanitary District Director. With that disclosure,  I will not be utilizing this website to comment on my race or my opponents going forward.   With that said, I do endorse myself (Michael Burkholder) and in the name of fairness, I would encourage support for Aaron Meadows.

I also would like to formally announce four endorsements now that the list of candidates are finalized. Over the next month or so, I will announce more endorsements as I learn more about the candidates and their platform.

  • Antioch Mayor – Wade Harper
  • Antioch Unified School District – Diane Gibson-Gray

Thanks for this updated list. I didn’t know you were running. Good for you. Kinda odd you would endorse an opponent though and that is pretty stupid. I also think you would be an idiot if your didn’t endorse yourself so nice job and good luck!

I am not pleased with the Antioch Council Candidates list one bit. Same goes for Mayor. Never heard of Pinto or Wilson and it looks like no change in site. Disappointing for Antioch. Good call on Gibson-Gray for School Board.

Oakley's Poor Choices Aug 16, 2012 - 1:47 pm

@Jim

If you are not impressed with Antioch, then I am not impressed with Oakley. Talk about some poor choices. Randi Alder? Are you kidding me! Ron Borland? That is one angry man who hates Oakley? Mayor Kevin Romick? He needs to go based on City Manager deal! I have never heard of L.J. Souza. Doug Harcastle has been at Ironhouse for to long raising rates. Diane Burgis? What has she done other than be executive director to a non-profit? Dave Hansen? never heard of him.

A big fat HELL NO to Carissa Pillows! That is one woman who is out of her league based on her comments within the last few weeks on Fire. This little grasshopper has a lot to learn. Not impressed with many of the candidates in Brentwood. I will go with Gene Clare for Council for sure and Bob Taylor for Mayor.

This is how stupid Burke is, he endorses an opponent. His opinion clearly does not matter on any of these races because he has shown how unintelligant he is. He has endorsed republicans and democrats meaning he really is as he calls himself, “politically confused”.

. Thanks for the laugh

Jill, three seats are open. I see no harm in encouraging support for another candidate when two of the three others are incumbents.

I see some of the same names but also some new names. Good!!! The more people involved the better. As Mike said, let silly season begin!!

Cannot agree with you on Harper. He is bought and paid for by Seeno and Glover.

Read Neil Pinto’s web page, better yet call him and he will come visit you.

Burk, what the heck are you doing supporting a fellow candidate? Dumb!

I thik Antioch got shafted with no changes coming its away.with Davis and Harper switching spots. Oakley is interesting with Kevin Romick being the only incumbant, I think he will lose because of the City Manager deal. Steve Barr and Bob Taylor is a coin flip, but who cares. Brentwood has the worst candidates of everyone.

You are right about the start of silly season.
