Lafayette Police Announce Arrest of Attempted Murder Suspect

by ECT

On Friday, September 9, 2016 at about 1:25 PM, Lafayette Police responded to a report of a possible fire on the 3300 block of Betty Lane. When officers arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters from the Contra Costa County

Fire Protection District extinguished the blaze. Officers were able to confirm all of the residents safely left the home. One of them suffered burns.

While talking to the residents, officers discovered that two of the occupants apparently had an argument prior to the fire. That argument then led to one of the individuals attempting to burn the home down.

Upon further investigation, officers arrested 53-year-old Lisa Stevens of Lafayette.

Stevens was later booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on attempted murder and arson charges. She is being held in lieu of $750,000 bail.

Update

Sheriff-Coroner David O. Livingston announced Tuesday that the District Attorney has filed 7-charges against Lafayette suspect Lisa Stevens including attempted murder, arson, DV and false imprisonment. Bail now $1.9M.

The original bail sounded low for the charges. Throw the book at her.
