Knightsen: Man Airlifted to Local Hospital After Horse Accident

At 12:17 pm Tuesday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a horse accident which left a man injured and required him being airlifted to a local hospital.

The incident occurred in the 8400 block of Byron Highway in Knightsen where Battalion 5 arrived on scene and located a 41-year-old male laying on his side in the middle of a horse arena.

Patient care was provided and turned over to AMR who then assisted in patient transport in order for CALSTAR to airlifted the man to John Muir Medical Center in walnut Creek.

According to battalion Chief Jeff Burris, the man sustained possible internal injuries after the horse fell backwards and rolled over on top of the male who was riding the horse at the time.
