Knightsen: Firefighters Battling Vegetation Fire, Tractor Assisting District Also Catches Fire

by ECT

At approximately 5:05 pm Saturday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the area of Holland Tract Road at Tranquility Bay Road in the Town of Knightsen.

While responding, the fire district received a report of people in the area shooting off guns and lighting fireworks. The Contra Costa Sheriffs Office was dispatched as a precaution.

Upon arrival, Battalion 5 stated the fire was approximately 2 acres and as units were responding, it was reported that a tractor attempting to assist the district then caught on fire.

As of 5:25 pm, due to the amount of smoke, a helicopter was requested to allow the district to get an overhead view.

Thank you for the update. I live in Summer Lake and see giant plumes of smoke. I’m sorry people can’t think fireworks + dry grass = Fire

Hope they catch the idiots and charge them for the cost to put it out and a new tractor.
You can’t fix stupid but you can make them pay.

PS, there is only one way in and one way out to Holland Tract. I also hope our Sheriffs Dept is smart enough to check all that leave the area. Should be a piece of cake to catch these morons.
