California Attorney General Kamala Harris announced Tuesday morning she will enter the 2016 race to replace retiring Senator Barbara Boxer in the US Senate.
Harris, 50, is a former two-term San Francisco district attorney and In 2010, she was elected California attorney general, becoming the first woman and the first minority to hold the office.
Boxer announced last week she wouldn’t seek reelection to the seat she has held since 1992.

From my first days as a prosecutor in Alameda County, to my work as San Francisco District Attorney to my current service as California Attorney General, I have worked to bring smart, innovative and effective approaches to fighting crime, fighting for consumers and fighting for equal rights for all.
I want to be a voice for Californians on these issues and others that impact our state in the U.S. Senate. I will be a fighter for the next generation on the critical issues facing our country. I will be a fighter for middle class families who are feeling the pinch of stagnant wages and diminishing opportunity. I will be a fighter for our children who deserve a world-class education, and for students burdened by predatory lenders and skyrocketing tuition. California has been incredibly well served by the transformational leadership of Senator Boxer and the continued service of Senator Feinstein. With your help, I hope to build on their legacies in the U.S. Senate.

Well this announcement will ensure any Republican will get slaughtered in the race. I keep seeing Tom Del Beccaros name being mentioned for the GOP. Hope he runs, he will get a partyline vote and that is about it. That guy is not very bright.
She can’t even run the CA Department of Justice. The agency consistently provides erroneous information when inquiries are made and their computer services to FFLs are constantly having problems. Now she wants to be our Senator? How about doing a competent job in the position that you were elected to before looking to do something else?
