Antioch, CA — Dan Jinkerson won the 20 lap Xtreme Scaffolding Limited Late Modified Main Event Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. Jinkerson made a move on Ray Trimble for the lead with two laps to go and went on to victory from there. It was the second win in the series for Jinkerson, who currently leads the Placerville Speedway point standings.
With a front row start, previous winner Anthony Slaney took the early lead ahead of Trimble. Slaney held a straightaway advantage by the sixth lap. As he was lapping a slower car in Turn 2 on Lap 10, Slaney made contact with that car. They spun for a yellow flag, and Slaney was put to the rear of the pack for his part in the incident. This gave the lead to Trimble ahead of Jinkerson and Dan Brown Jr. Jinkerson began pressuring Trimble for the lead until making an inside pass in Turn 3 on Lap 18. A lap later, Trimble ended up spinning while attempting to lap a slower car, and Jinkerson went on to victory ahead of Brown, Micheli, Fred Ryland and Trimble.
Shannon Newton picked up his second 25 lap Wingless Spec Sprint Main Event win of the season. Dylan Newberry had a front row start and motored into the early lead ahead of Newton and Rick Panfili. Panfili retired with a broken rear end on Lap 18, and third place Roy Fisher was put down a lap at that point. Newberry took the checkered flag ahead of Shannon Newton, but he came up light at the scales. Fisher was also disqualified for being too light, giving the win to Shannon Newton ahead of Tony Bernard, MacKenzie Newton, Steve Maionchi and Panfili
Danny Wagner won the 20 lap Delta Dwarf Car Main Event. This was the fourth win of the season for the Antioch Speedway point leader, and he also picked up the win at Watsonville a night earlier. After a complete restart, David Rosa took the early lead ahead of Austin Struthers and Travis Day. However, Wagner settled into third on Lap 3 and made an inside pass in Turn 3 on Lap 4 to take the lead from Rosa. Wagner proceeded to build a straightaway advantage over Rosa by the 10th circuit as Day started challenging Rosa for second. Day took second from Rosa in traffic on Lap 17, and Wagner beat Day back to the checkered Flag by half a lap. Rosa settled for third. Ellie Russo and Struthers took the checkered flag in fourh and fifth, respectively. However, both drivers passed by the tech area to cause their disqualification. Charlie Correia ended up fourth ahead of Joe LeDuc.
IMCA Modified point leader Nick DeCarlo won the 15 lap Super Stock Main Event aboard the Michael Burch owned car. Mike Walko led the opening lap before DeCarlo went low and took the lead. A yellow flag waved moments later, and point later Jim Freethy settled into second behind DeCarlo on the restart. However, Freethy was no match for DeCarlo, who prevailed by half a lap. Walko settled for third ahead of Joey Ridgeway Jr and Fred Ryland.
Harlee Aguilera won the 20 lap BCRA Lightning Sprint Main Event. Aguilera led from the outset ahead of Brandon Leedy and Greg Dennett. Dennett made an outside pass on the backstretch on Lap 4 to take second from Leedy. Dennett started challenging Aguilera a few laps later and made a low pass in Turn 2 on Lap 10 to snag the lead. However, Dennett slowed moments later for a yellow flag. Aguilera led Leedy at that point, but Leedy surrendered second to point leader Matt Land in Turn 3 on Lap 12. Aguilera led the rest of the way to win ahead of Land, Peter Paulson, Rick Holbrook and Leedy.
