Hercules Police Nab Mail Theft Suspects, Recover East Contra Costa Items

The Hercules Police Department announced that on Wednesday morning that four people were arrested after officers responded to a report of a mail theft in progress.

According to police,  in the early Wednesday morning hours,  Hercules Officers were dispatched to Stanley Ct. for a report of a mail theft in progress. The reporting party saw a suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt going through mailboxes. They also told Dispatch the suspect ducked down to hide when they opened their door.

Police were able to stop the vehicle and saw numerous pieces of mail on the rear passenger floorboard. Officers detained all four occupants of the vehicle. Three of the four occupants were on probation in Contra Costa County.

During a search of the vehicle, Officers found numerous pieces of stolen mail and packages from the cities of Antioch, Brentwood, Concord, Hercules and Oakley.  Officers also found personal checks and credit cards that are suspected to be stolen. Officers also located two pry bars, a crowbar, and a shaved key.

All four suspects were arrested and transported to HPD for booking/interviews and their vehicle was towed.

Gave them a ticket with promise to appear!
