Harris, Rubio, Booker Introduce Legislation to Establish Commission Devoted to Uplifting Black Communities

by ECT

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senators Kamala D. Harris (D-CA), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Cory Booker (D-NJ) introduced legislation to establish the Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys.

The Commission would be housed within the United States Commission on Civil Rights’ Office and would recommend policies to improve current government programs. U.S. Representative Frederica Wilson (D-FL) introduced companion legislation (H.R. 1636) in the House.

“We must speak truth that slavery and our country’s long history of institutional racism continue to cause great pain and inequality toward communities of color—particularly Black males,” Harris said. “This bipartisan commission is just the start of a long overdue effort to confront the negative treatment Black men and boys face every day in America. I am proud to support.”

Specifically, the Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys Act establishes a commission to recommend policies to improve upon, or augment, current government programs. The Commission, consisting of 19 members, will include bipartisan Members of Congress, federal agency experts, and appointed subject issue area experts. The Commission will investigate potential civil rights violations affecting black males and study the disparities they experience in education, criminal justice, health, employment, fatherhood, mentorship and violence. The Commission will be responsible for producing an annual report to address the current conditions affecting black men and boys and make recommendations to improve the social conditions and provide vital guidance for Congress on effective strategies to reduce the racial disparities in education, criminal justice, health and employment. The report will be submitted to the President, Congress, members of the President’s Cabinet, and the chairs of the appropriate committees of jurisdiction, and be publicly available online on a centralized Federal website. The bill does not authorize any appropriations, and members of the Commission serve without compensation.

Maybe if the black men and boys stopped blaming “WHITEY” for their own misfortune and apply that energy to improving themselves and stop committing crimes, maybe they could help “uplift” their communities. Wasn’t slavery done away with over 150 year ago by REPUBLICANS? Many blacks are still living on the DEMOCRATIC plantations.

Oh lord, the slavery was 150 years ago meme, really? Did you ever take a history class after K-12?
Ever heard of Black Codes? Sharecropping? Jim Crow? Segregation? Redlining? Lynching?

Many of these examples were carried out in the 20th century— meaning there’s people still alive in 2019 who experienced it.

PS, the Republican vs Democrat false dichotomy is outdated. Learn something dude.

What total BS! By your estimation, Harry, no black ever made it in life. Every black is a victim! Every culture has obstacles placed in front of them, but they work through them and move on and become successful.

My great-grandmother, a superb lady from Tennessee, said “I don’t ever want to hear you blaming anyone or anything if you cannot achieve success! Work hard and have goals and keep changing your goals as you move along!” Rest in peace, GG!

Why is Harris suddenly so concerned about black communities. Shouldn’t she be worried about East Indian communities? Harris doesn’t have one black cell in her body. She’s 100% of East Indian descent

It’s all about the votes for her Richard…she could give a rats behind about anyone but herself. Oh…except for Willie Brown.

The criteria to qualify as a WCSO Keyboard Warrior is as follows:

?Absolutely no law enforcement experience whatsoever

?The ability to completely ignore factual information and continually operate in the world of fiction and/or the past

?The ability to form your own ridiculous opinion and then force that opinion down other people’s throats, no matter how many times you’re proved wrong.

?Must know how to do everyone’s job better than they do, even though you’ve never done them

?The ability to NEVER admit you’re wrong, even when there is glaring evidence that you are, indeed, wrong

?The ability to talk passionately about things you heard from someone else and/or just completely made up in your own head

Everything Kamala Harris does involves race. She is a hypocrite and she is dividing this country with her rhetoric. I have no respect for this fraud. Those days of 200 years ago are past. Get over it. Harris is only concerned about herself. Don’t be fooled with her fake antics to con your vote. You will be sorry.
