Senators Introduce Stop HATE Legislation, Calling Out Role Of The Internet In Inciting Violence

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Kamala D. Harris on Thursday joined Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) in introducing a measure that aims to prevent online extremism from turning into real-life hate crimes. Harris and Casey are joined in this effort by Senators Booker (D-NJ), Jones (D-AL), Klobuchar (D-MN), Menendez (D-NJ), Sanders (I-VT) and Van Hollen (D-MD).

“Hate is real in this country. The tragedies in New Zealand, Pittsburgh, and communities around the world underscore the urgent need for decisive action to curb the continuing rise of hate crimes here in America,” said Harris. “The Stop HATE Act would require a serious study of the role the internet plays in fostering hate speech and influencing people to commit hate crimes. We cannot allow these horrific incidents to continue.”

Following the shootings at two mosques in New Zealand, the massacre at Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, and the violent gathering of white supremacists in Charlottesville, it has become clear that online platforms are being used to spread hateful rhetoric and incite real-life violence.

The Stop HATE Act would require the Departments of Commerce and Justice to study how current forms of telecommunication are being used to fuel violence and hate crimes against individuals or groups, and recommend ways—consistent with the First Amendment—that the government or private citizens can combat these growing threats.

A previous version of this report (found here) was released in 1993 but has not been updated in over 25 years.

I hate her too and she sure made an ass out of herself at the Kavanaugh hearings! Both Harris and that nutty Cory “Spartacus” Booker, came across as total idiots!

I guess old Cory thought he was still a slave! Obviously, he didn’t think it through! Cory was too busy blasting now “Justice” Kavanaugh to realize to whom he was comparing himself.

She can start by standing out and recommending prosecuting Jesse for falsely promoting his own hate crimes and getting preferential treatment. But she will not because she is part of the problem too. Another fake politician with radical ideas that ruin America.

Actually, Harris along with Michelle “BIG MIKE” Obama were the ones who put pressure on the prosecutor to drop the charges!

The democrats want to censor so-called “hate speech”, where they define what hate speech is. This is part of the war of the democrats against the 1st amendment. They are working endlessly to take all our rights away, one by one.

We have to fight the Dems every inch of the way. Don’t let them get away with anything. We let Obama slip through and his regime was the experiment which failed. He was a total bully!

Ahhh! Here we go again with that old devil “HATE.” This reminds me of the 1959 film, BEN-HUR. In the rowing scene, the Roman general, Quintus Arrius (played by Jack Hawkins) spots Judah Ben-Hur (Charlton Heston) and says, “I see your eyes are full of hate, 41. Hate is good! It keeps a man alive! Row well and live, 41!”

I was born in 1990, but I love films of the 1940’s and 1950’s! This one is definitely a favorite. Maybe Kamala Harris should watch it.
