Governor Calls for Special Election After Assemblyman Jim Frazier Resignation

SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom Friday issued a proclamation declaring a statewide primary election on June 7, 2022 and a proclamation declaring special elections for the 22nd Congressional District, 11th Assembly District and 80th Assembly District on June 7, 2022. The primary for the special elections will be held on April 5, 2022.

Jim Frazier Announces His Resignation from California State Assembly

Sacramento, CA – California State Assemblyman Jim Frazier (D-Fairfield) today announced his resignation from the California State Assembly, District 11, effective December 31, 2021. Mr. Frazier will be seeking new opportunities in the field of transportation.

Assemblyman Frazier said, “This is the best job that I have ever had. I have enjoyed serving the State of California and the 11th Assembly District and greatly appreciate the confidence that my constituents have shown me over the last nine years. I am proud of the many successes that we have achieved together. My future plans are to put to use my passion and experience in the transportation sector, explore new career opportunities and spend additional time with family and friends.”

Suisun City Mayor Lori D. Wilson Launches Race for State Assembly

The day after Frazier announced he would resign, Suisun Mayor Lori D. Wilson entered the race for the now open Assembly seat held by longtime Assemblymember Jim Frazier. Frazier also announced his support for Mayor Wilson to succeed him as the next Assemblymember for the 11th District seat he has represented since 2012.

“Mayor Lori Wilson is far and away the best candidate to take over representing the people of the 11th Assembly District,” Frazier said in a statement. “She has my full and unqualified support. I am confident that she has all the skills to keep driving the district forward with her exceptional experience, smart leadership instincts and unmatched financial background. The 11th District encompasses portions of Solano, Contra Costa and Sacramento counties and includes the following cities, towns, and areas: Antioch, Bethel Island, Birds Landing, Brentwood, Byron, Collinsville, Discovery Bay, Fairfield, Isleton, Knightsen, Locke, Oakley, Pittsburg (partial), Rio Vista, Suisun City, Travis Air Force Base, Vacaville and Walnut Grove.

Note – it is unclear if any other candidates have announced if they would challenge Wilson or not.

Translation: I’ve got high-paying opportunities lined up as an executive or lobbyist.

The machine is pushing for lori wilson. Will be hard for anyone to mount a decent campaign against her.
