Firefighters Battle 50-Acre Vegetation Fire off Barry Hill Road in Martinez

At 12:59 pm Tuesday, Contra Costa County Fire was dispatched to assist the Rodeo-Hercules Fire Department on a vegetation fire at Barry Hill Road in Martinez.

The fire, which-is now a two-alarm response, was estimated at 10-acres and in the same area as Monday’s fire which burned approximately 120-acres of Cummings Skyway

As of 1:47 pm, the fire was still active.

As of 2:00 pm, the fire was estimated at 50 acres and 40% contained. No structures are threatened per CONFIRE.

Franklin Canyon Fire Burns 120

The fire broke out at 5:47 pm Monday a Cummings Skyway near Highway 4 and required CALFIRE assistance in air support. The fire was near Martinez, Port Costa and Crockett.

By 8:00 pm, the fire was 75% contained at approximately 100 acres. The fire had forward progress stopped late Monday.  In total, the fire ultimately burned 120 acres. No structures were threatened and a evacuation warning was issued, however, the fire did not prompt a mandatory evacuation.
