Family Law Cases to be Heard at Arnason Justice Center in Pittsburg

Contra Costa County has added additional services to East Contra Costa as the Honorable Anita Santos (Department 2) began hearing all assigned family law cases at the Arnason Justice Center in Pittsburg (1000 Center Drive.)

If you live in East County and/or your case is assigned to Judge Santos, you can file your documents as follows:

Filing Type: Initial Filings (starting the case)
Where to File: Spinetta Family Law Courthouse, Martinez

Filing Type: Subsequent filings in cases assigned to Judge Santos
Where to File: Pittsburg or Martinez

Filing Type: Domestic Violence Restraining Order Applications – not married, no children in common, no existing court case
Where to File: Arnason Justice Center, Pittsburg

Filing Type: Domestic Violence Restraining Order Applications – married, or children in common, or existing court case
Where to File: Pittsburg or Martinez for first-time applicants living in east county and for cases assigned to Judge Santos

Restructuring of Family Law Facilitator Services
In order to ensure that all residents of the county have reasonable access to assistance from a Family Law Facilitator (FLF), the Court is adding one more day of FLF services in the branch courthouses and redistributing resources as follows:

PITTSBURG COURTHOUSE

* FLF’s will provide drop-in hours on Mondays from 8 until noon; Tuesdays from 8 until 1 pm; and Wednesdays from 1:00 until 3:30 pm.

RICHMOND COURTHOUSE
* FLF will provide “Starting/Responding to Your Divorce” workshops in Spanish on the first, second and third Wednesday of each month starting at 8:30 am.
* “Finish Your Divorce” appointments will be available on the 4th and 5th Wednesdays of each month.
* Drop-in hours will be on Thursdays and Fridays from 8 am until noon and from 1 pm until 3:30.

MARTINEZ COURTHOUSE *Help Desk hours and “Finish your Divorce” workshops will remain unchanged.
*New online workshop: Materials from the “Start your Divorce” workshop will be available online as of Tuesday, January 19th and in-person workshops will be discontinued.
FAMILY LAW COURT RECORDS

All family law files will continue to be housed at the Court Records office on Ward Street in Martinez. Parties seeking to amend an existing court order in one of Judge Santos’ cases are advised to keep in mind Local Rule 5.4 (d)(3) which requires that a copy of the existing order must be attached to their pleading.
