by ECT

El Cerrito Officers responded to a call of a residential burglary. The 85 year old resident reported that he was home alone when he spotted suspicious people in his backyard. Fearing for his safety, the resident armed himself and came face to face with two burglars, when they entered his house after breaking in the back door.

The resident thought his life was in danger and fired at the intruders. The suspects fled the house on foot and in a car. The resident waited with neighbors for the police to arrive.

While Officers responded to the call for help, they located one of the suspects on Key Blvd., near the Del Norte BART Station. The suspect, Shawn Mulberry, a 34 year old resident from Oakland, attempted to run from officers.

Officers arrested Mr. Mulberry and discovered that he had been shot in the head. Officers kept Mr. Mulberry alert while medical units responded to the scene. Mr. Mulberry was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. He is in serious condition.

Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a white or gray sedan. Investigators are seeking information about additional suspects. The crime is still under active investigation.

Anyone with information relating to this crime is encouraged to contact the El Cerrito Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call the El Cerrito Police Department at 510-215-4400 and ask to speak with a detective.

Obviously, there was nothing for the bullet to hit, since Mr. Mulberry is missing a brain. He got all the way to the BART station while being shot in the head?

Next time use rapid fire and hit’em multiple times.

Great work by the homeowner. Great marksmanship. The other fleeing suspect will be apprehended soon. You can run but you can’t hide.
