The East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a vegetation fire on Vasco Road just north of Marsh Creek Road Thursday afternoon at around 1:37 pm. Crews were able to contain the fire to just under 2 acres and the usage of three engines (52, 54, 59).
Upon arrival, Engine 325 stated it was slow moving and low wind which helped keep it contained. There also was a reported water tender on scene flanking it from one side. Crews worked to push it back towards the road for containment.
Crews were on scene for nearly two-hours and the road had to be closed for a short period of time as crews worked. There was also a minor non-injury traffic collision with folks observing the fire.
Thank you Art Michel, Brandy Palmer, and Elizabeth Cabrera for the photos below.
Note: during this incident, a residential fire broke out on Bethel Island which tied up Engines 93 and 94 which means all of our resources were committed. During a medical in Brentwood, that call was handled by Engine 88 from Antioch near Empire and Lone Tree Way.
