Here is a look at this weeks events going on in East Contra Costa County for the weekend of July 24-26 which kicks off with Brentwood hosting its Starry Nights Concert Series and beginning Saturday Hook Line & Sinker is hosting its customer appreciation event.

For you lobster lovers, Hannah Nicole Vineyards is hosting its Lobsterfest event and have less than 15-tickets still available.


 

Brentwood-Starry-NightsJuly 24: Brentwood Starry Nights Concert
This Starry Nights in Brentwood Summer Concert will feature the “David Luning Band playing Americana Country from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at City Park, 710 Second Street, Brentwood, CA, 94513

The concert will be held in City Park, located at 710 Second Street in Brentwood.  The show will begin at 7 p.m.  All patrons are asked to follow park rules before, during, and after the concerts.  No dogs, no glass containers, and no audio/video recording devices allowed.  Ample parking is available in the parking garage.

Bring your blanket, chairs, and a picnic dinner and enjoy this FREE event.

 


Frog-ChallengeJuly 25-26: Ultimate Frog Challenge:
For 12 years the Frog Tournament has been the marquee event for bass anglers that enjoy summertime top-water fishing.

The Ultimate Frog Challenge has evolved into what anglers have said they always wanted: the opportunity to fish a Frogs ONLY event – with ANY BRAND OF TOP WATER FROG they choose!

Vicious Frogs has jumped into the Ultimate Frog Challenge – “Battle of the Frogs” event for this weekend, and Dan’s Delta Outdoors in Oakley, now is offering a $250 bounty for the Pro or Am team that wins the event – that purchased a Vicious Frog from Dan’s Delta Outdoors prior to the event!

 


Hook Line and SinkerJuly 25-26: Hook Line & Sinker Customer Appreciation
On July 25-26, the community is invited to join Hook, Line & Sinker for their family friendly customer appreciation event which includes a variety of deals, giveaways, raffles, and even a fishing pond for kids.

Located at 3100 Main Street #260 in Oakley, the event aims to celebrate a year of transition with the business which has new ownership, completed a remodel, more than tripled its firearm offerings, launched an archery section and increased their fishing offerings.

This weekend, attendees of the celebration will be treated to a variety of items:

  • Raffles of firearms, fishing gear and other items
  • Kids Trout Pond (200 fish) – first 100 kids get a pancake breakfast
  • Tri-Tipp BBQ
  • Gun Safe Extravaganza
  • Demonstrations
  • Variety of activities
  • Jumpers

July 25: Three Creeks Restoration Project Kickoff
The Three Creeks Restoration Project in Brentwood will receive $744,000 in newly-awarded state grant funding marking another major step forward for the project. The community is invited to a kickoff event on July 25.

The project will provide multiple benefits to Marsh Creek and the surrounding area by creating habitat for fish and wildlife, improving water quality, and enhancing flood protection for local residents and surrounding communities.  Another key component of the project is the creation of new recreational opportunities in City of Brentwood.

The community is invited to join the many partners at a kickoff celebration on Saturday, July 25, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 a.m.   The event will take place along the Marsh Creek Trail off Central Blvd. in Brentwood, between Deer Creek Lane and North Estates Drive.  For the story we ran on July 8, click here.


July-August: Antioch Free Saturday Summer Concerts Return to Downtown Antioch
Once again Waldie Plaza in downtown Antioch will be the place to be on Saturday nights in July and August (excluding 7/4 due to the holiday) for free concerts by the river. Local bands will provide a variety of music from 6-8 PM in Waldie Plaza, located between G & I Streets (by Antioch City Hall off of 2nd Street).

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and visit a downtown restaurant before the concert or bring a light meal/snack with you. Wadie Plaza is a designated park and park rules apply (no alcohol, dogs on leash, etc.).

The musical lineup is:

  • July 25th – Vocal-Ease & The Boogie Men (40’s, 50’s & 60’s)
  • August 1st – The PHDs (Contemporary, R&B, Latin, Oldies & Jazz)
  • August 8th – Nicky D & the All-Stars (Old School)

Brentwood Theater Company is thrilled to complete its 6th season with Hello Dolly, one of the most iconic and longest-running shows in Broadway history. Directed by Steve Kinsella and produced by Jack Gaughan, Hello Dolly is an energetic and charming musical enjoyed by all, with an outstanding local cast of talented performers.

Matchmaker Dolly Levi (Martie Muldoon) is a widow, a matchmaker, and also a professional meddler – but everything changes when she decides that the next match she needs to make is her own. Her latest client seeking assistance is the cantankerous and wealthy Horace Vandergelder (Lance Millar), but Dolly would rather have him for herself. Dolly schemes to have his employees Cornelius Hackl (Chris Finetti) and Barnaby Tucker (Scottie Tsubota) pursue the woman Horace has his eyes on, hatmaker Irene Molloy (Shelly McDowell), and her assistant Minnie Fay (Charlotte Kinsella). Set in New York City in the 1890’s, Hello-Dolly! features such memorable songs as “Before the Parade Passes By,” “It Only Takes a Moment,” “Put on Your Sunday Clothes,” and the title number, “Hello, Dolly!”

Brentwood-Farmers-MarketJuly 25: Brentwood Farmers Market

The Brentwood Farmers’ Market on is open on Saturday from 8am to 12pm, Oak St. and First St.  New this year – they have expanded around the corner onto Oak St.

The season will run from March 7, 2015 to November 21, 2015.

July 26: Get Sam Rollin’
Be ready to sink your teeth into some good ol’ home style cookin’ by Brentwood Cafe for a great cause! Our awesome friend Sam recently underwent a back surgery that has limited his mobility. He can no longer lift himself into his truck so we, along with Bill Brant Ford have joined forces to get Sam a van. The van will allow Sam to drive his wheel chair right up into the driver seat and get him back on the road again!

Dinner tickets will be $25 each and can be purchased at anytime.

There will be tons of items up for raffle as well as a mechanical bull and mechanical bull riding contest with a prize to last man standing!….We will also have a jump house for the youngins!

The Mechanical bull riding contest will need at least 10 riders with an entry fee of $30. There will be a prize for last man standing which will be announced closer to our event date!

You are invited to join the Bethel Island Chamber of Commerce for their 28th Annual 50’s Bash on August 1-2.

The two-day event features Catfish Races, kids zone, food, clothing and specialty booths.

On Saturday, there will be a custom car show and dog show. Sunday will feature a motorcycle show, crowning the queen, decorated golf cart and bicycle page as well as the rubber ducky races.

August 22: Brentwood Bark in the Park
The Brentwood Advisory Neighborhood Committee, BANC, will be sponsoring our Bark in the Park event for the third year on Aug 22, 2015 in Brentwood City Park on the corner of Oak St. and 2nd Street. Registration begins at 9am and the parade begins at 10am. Costumes are permitted but not required. Vendors wanted for the Heart of Oakley festival! The festival will take place Saturday, September 19th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in downtown Oakley. Vendors have until August 14th to sign-up. To download the vendor application visit our website.

The Downtown Brentwood Craft Beer Festival will be held from 1pm to 5pm on September 19, 2015 at the Brentwood Community Center. Tickets will go fast as last year sold out pretty quick.

Tickets are $30.00 Per Person and $40.00 at the door if it is not sold out. If you are a designated driver and wish to attend, tickets are $5.00.
