Discovery Bay Man Dies in Vehicle Crash Thursday Night

by ECT

On March 1 at about 10:00pm, Contra Costa CHP was advised of a solo vehicle vs. a tree collision at SR-4 just east of Byron Hwy. Upon emergency personnel and CHP arrival, it was determined that a 2016 Ford Focus was driven off the roadway and hit a tree, leaving the male driver unresponsive.

In the initial investigation, it appears that the solo male driver (24yrs old from Discovery Bay) of the Ford was traveling eastbound on SR-4 just east of Byron Hwy and for unknown reasons veered the Ford off the roadway and drove into a tree.

Emergency personnel on scene provided life saving procedures but were unsuccessful and the male driver remained unresponsive. He was transported to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek in critical life threatening condition.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs are a factor in this collision and it is still under investigation.
