Contra Costa Republican Party Chairman Issues Statement on Events at U.S. Capitol

by ECT

Walnut Creek, Calif. — The Chairman of the Contra Costa County Republican Party, Matt Shupe, issued the following statement in response to today’s event’s at the U.S. Capitol.

“I am deeply embarrassed for our nation today. What is going on at the U.S. Capitol is completely unacceptable, hypocritical, and antithetical to the principles of the United States, our Constitution, and the Republican Party. While we rightfully criticized the Left’s years of #NotMyPresident and months of the Left’s disgusting, radical violence, their siege of federal buildings and entire neighborhoods, and their war on police – we cannot condone these sad tactics when anyone else lowers themselves to it. You cannot say you support law and order in one breath and then act this way the next. It is outrageous and must stop. We must look towards winning Congress in 2022 and the White House in 2024, and supporting this does nothing but damage those efforts.”

Mr. Shupe’s pathetic attempts to preach morality ring hollow after four years of defending and enabling Trump. The sad fact is that Trump and his enablers have destroyed the Republican Party and it does not now deserve to be in power. It needs some time “in the wilderness” to see if it can reform itself or wither and dies.

Mr. Shupe is deeply embarrassed for our Country?
If I were him I’d be deeply embarrassed for the Republican party.
My hope right now is that the 25th Amendment will be invoked, thus guaranteeing that trump will be still riding off into the sunset four years from now, carrying his stain on our Democracy on his back.

On a side note, it sure is going to be fun watching trump scramble for the $800 million in debt he has coming over the next four years.

The media has destroyed the Republican Party. Please people, educate yourself. Stay off of CNN or Fox News. Research.

Furthermore, this group set out to defend their rights. They did so by targeting the corrupt politicians, not innocent home owners, local businesses, or their own neighborhoods. This is far more commendable than the “peaceful” protests of the BLM members

Enough! Jan 7, 2021 - 9:39 am

The hypocrisy of the Republican Party- The party of the suppose “LAW AND ORDER”. Time to find another motto….. And to my brothers and sisters in blue at D.C. you FAILED your oath to the Constitution and are an EMBARRASSMENT to the badge- COWARDS!

Little too late to backpeddle now Jan 7, 2021 - 10:28 am

Your party’s corrupt and inept rein of incompetence is over. These last four years of sedition by the entire Republican party will serve as a stain on your record forever. America will never forget this attack on our capital and our democracy. The Lincoln Republican Party is dead. Now you’re just an extremist party.

A day Late...and a Dollar short. Jan 7, 2021 - 10:56 am

Your party is guilty of systemic corruption and incompetence. You are now just another rogue group who attacked our democracy. This act of sedition will serve as a permanent stain on your pathetic record. Lets round up all your fellowship and send them to federal prison where they belong.

you know this was Antifa or some group like that… stand up and call things for what they are not stand behind a safe statement where you can look like you’re doing something…???

An experiment that failed in a colossal way Jan 7, 2021 - 11:34 am

Your party’s failed attempt to support an outsider will have lasting implications. You don’t get to end your participation in the game with only seconds left on the scoreboard. Your poor choices will not easily be forgotten, and the American people do not forgive your past misdeeds so easily.

Redneck-privilege. Simple as that. Apparently the Confederate flag is a banner of protection in this country.

Who is this “Left” you describe? Does it include citizens who obey the law, served their nation in the armed forces, paid their prescribed share of taxes, worked hard to take care of their families, and support local businesses? Plenty of people- both Republicans and Democrats, do this daily. What is this “Left” of whom you speak?

Sounds like a too late reaction to an imposter/failed businessman who tricked the Republican Party into supporting what my old boss General Kelly said- “What happened on Capitol Hill yesterday is a direct result of his poisoning the minds of people with the lies and the frauds,”

But of course corrupt BSing politicians can’t give a moral platitude without dropping in the expected “whataboutisms”, subtly suggesting there is rightousness behind their constituent’s misguided acts. Instead of mea culpa, it ends up being a lecture coming down from a high horse. Hollow words. Nonpartisan opinion btw, as both parties really disgust me. But more the GOP in the last several years pretending they have not been propping up a crazy lying tyrant for their own short sighted political gains. “Hey everyone, lets pretend that crazy isn’t crazy”

BLM protestors were overwhelmingly peaceful (93%). The Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) analyzed more than 7,750 Black Lives Matter demonstrations in all 50 states and Washington D.C. that took place in the wake of George Floyd’s death between May 26 and August 22.

Their report states that more than 2,400 locations reported peaceful protests, while fewer than 220 reported “violent demonstrations.”

Many people continue to believe that Black Lives Matter protests are largely violent—contrary to the report’s findings. ACLED highlights a recent Morning Consult poll in which 42% of respondents believe “most protesters (associated with the BLM movement) are trying to incite violence or destroy property.” ACLED suggests this “disparity stems from political orientation and biased media framing… such as disproportionate coverage of violent demonstrations.”

I have relatives and friends living and working in the DC area (Arlington, Fairfax, Manassas, Potomac, Vienna) who observed busloads of known ANTIFA thugs being unloaded. They didn’t even hide their affiliation! A few of my friends are with the capitol police unit. They have been gathering images of ANTIFA members faces from various sources. ANTIFA thugs infiltrated the peaceful marchers and now the police is using facial recognition technology to go after them. Thus far, over 80 of them were recognized and arrested

Talk about a toxic brand…

Yeah Right.... Jan 8, 2021 - 6:18 am

You don’t get to wait until there’s 5 seconds left on the scoreboard, and decide you want to leave the game. This is your albatross, so you get to sink with it. Your party’s experiment failed in a spectacular way.

A Party of Treason Jan 8, 2021 - 6:52 am

The new Republican Party. A party of sedition and treason. Good luck with your new brand.

“Peaceful Warrior”: these anecdotes of yours don’t smell right at all. Can you provide any reputable source for your claim that “thus far. over 80 of them (ANTIFA thugs) were recognized and arrested”?
This story from the LA Times contradicts your claims:

“Peaceful Warrior” – Your anecdotes do not pass the smell test. Indeed, I am not aware of ANY reputable reporting that “thus far, over 80 of [ANTIFA thugs] were recognized and arrested.” Can you provide any reputable source for your claims?

Those propagating the Antifa lie (entirely predictable, I’m afraid) need to get a grip on reality. The biggest purveyors of “fake news” during the past four years have been Donald Trump and his wackjob allies in the right wing media. Now, at this late date, the chickens have come home to roost. Unfortunately, it’s also true that there are none so blind as those who refuse to see.

Trump’s disgrace has been a long time coming but it’s positively Shakespearean.

Blame the Senate Jan 8, 2021 - 8:17 am

This could’ve all been avoided if our corrupt and inept Republican Senate had the fortitude to complete the impeachment process two years ago. Now they’re all looking to save their skins and political careers by denouncing criminal Trump. The Republican Senate is complicit in this treasonous behavior.

Leslie Bandle Jan 8, 2021 - 1:00 pm

How discouraging to hear the rebublican party i used to admire, continue the false narrative that Trump has been using to insight division in our country. I ahve lost respect for you and your political tactics. You are as unethical as the pro Trump mob. I cant be a rebulican anymore because of people like you.

Marco Jan 8, 2021 - 4:08 pm

Peaceful Warrier…Made up stories about busloads of ANTIFA being responsible is quite hilarious & silly. That is because the inserructionists were filmed, many of them posing or even giving their name to reporters. As I watch them being outed & named one by one with details of past political activism & criminal history, they are indeed who they appeared to be – Trumpists, The facts are out there for those who believe facts over made up gossip. More fatcs will come out as the FBI gathers up all these “patriots for Trump”

Mr. Shupe:
Before you begin to timely distance yourself from the most embarrassing, unqualified, self serving, UN-AMERICAN, liar whose rear end you’ve been kissing for 4 years, you and the likes of you who have enabled this situation all along by staying quiet or defending this man’s actions, need to be held accountable politically.
Running for cover by releasing your “feel good” or “it’s not me” comments are NOT going to cut it.
Your statement fails to condemn this man for what he has done and you still take shots at the “LEFT” or aim to deflect the attention away by mentioning Antifa, BLM, the left, etc… Your statement does not mention “Agent Orange” by name and is just a “cover your own ass” notice. You failed to mention the failure(s) and enabling actions of “William Flinstone Barr” who did nothing but to let this guy do whatever he wanted by giving him legal cover.

Take off your kneepads and just make a simple statement condemning the man, his actions, his lies and corruption without deflections or miss-directions.

Sorry to be blunt, but enough is enough! This country, it’s constitution, it’s values are worth much more than your pathetic attempt to distance yourself from what has been happening.
