Contra Costa Animal Services Offers Free Adoptions in Advance of 4th of July

by ECT

CCAS partnership with Finding Rover aims to reunite lost pets with their owners using facial recognition software.

Martinez, CA – Contra Costa Animal Services (CCAS) will be offering free adoptions of all animals from Friday, June 29th, through Tuesday, July 3rd in an effort to clear kennel space in advance of a busy 4th of July holiday. Additionally, in an effort to better reunite lost pets with their owners, CCAS is partnering with Finding Rover to utilize their facial recognition platform to reunite lost pets that come in over the 4th of July holiday with their owners.

People interested in taking advantage of this free adoption promotion can visit CCAS’ Martinez and Pinole adoption centers to meet and adopt their new family member. The free adoption special includes most fees associated with adopting an animal, including: adoption fees, spay/neuter, micro-chipping and vaccination. However, new adopters will be required to license their animal.

The 4th of July is the biggest day of the year for animals to escape from their home. Making sure that your pets are licensed, collared and microchipped greatly increases the likelihood of reuniting lost animals with their owners, and CCAS encourages pet owners to take those measures to ensure the safety of your animals.

CCAS/Finding Rover Partnership

Finding Rover is a FREE service that uses Facial Recognition to help to reunite lost dogs and cats with their families!  As a result of this partnership, pet owners in Contra Costa County can now see if their lost pet is in our care with just a few clicks. Every dog and cat that enters a CCAS shelter becomes registered on Finding Rover. Users of Finding Rover can search the shelter and surrounding areas right from their smartphone or computer in efforts to find their missing pet, a neighbor’s missing pet, the family of a found pet or search for adoptable pets.

Additionally, every dog and cat that leaves CCAS, through a reunion or an adoption, can remain protected on Finding Rover when the pet-parent registers on Finding Rover with the same email address that the shelter has on file. If that dog or cat ever gets lost, their record will already be in the system, and identifying that pet will be a snap.

Registration of your pet is FREE and as simple as 1, 2, 3!  Just go to www.FindingRover.com and:

  1. Upload your pet’s photo
  2. Enter a few details about your pet
  3. Enter your name, email address and zip code
