Contra Costa Animal Services: 86 Animals Take in Over 4th of July Weekend

by ECT

The Contra Costa County Animal Services said Wednesday that a total of 86 animals were taken into the shelter between July 3-5, one of the busiest weekends of the year.

According to Steve Bado, spokesperson for Animal Services, they were on high alert over the weekend and ready for animals to be turned in. By Tuesday, pet owners were in the shelter hoping to find their pet, some of which have not yet been located.

Here is the breakdown of intakes for the county:

  • Dogs = 65
  • Cats = 21
  • Total = 86

Bado says that for those missing pets, be sure to check out Fido Alert–East Contra Costa Facebook along with Finding Rover as they are great online resources for reuniting lost pets with their owners. http://www.findingrover.com/.
