WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15), a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and of the House Committee on the Judiciary, issued the following statement Wednesday:
“Today, I not only voted for the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump, I voted for our national security, for our election’s integrity, and for our Constitution’s sanctity.
“Donald Trump is using the presidency to put his personal gain over our national interests. He is using our taxpayer dollars and foreign interference to cheat the next election. In our investigation, no critical fact has been in serious dispute.
“I came to Congress to fight for those living in California’s 15th District. Bringing down the cost of living, ending gun violence, and lessening the burden of student loan debt remain my top priorities, but I could not sit idly but and watch a president ignore our laws and Constitution.
“Our Founders did not leave us helpless to an abusive president. The people of kingdoms and dictatorships may be helpful to such abuses, but we citizens of a democracy have the remedy of impeachment.
“President Trump is on a constitutional crime spree. But we have proof – through our investigation – that courage can stop his corruption. The courage of public servant patriots to come forward got Ukraine the aid the president was withholding. Our standing up to the president’s ongoing abuses of power is our only hope for protecting our national security, elections, and Constitution.”

Let’s see: you and your cohorts were screaming, “quid pro quo” about POTUS’ phone call with Zelensky. Even after Zelensky stated the Trump call was, “..not from a position of ‘quid pro quo'”, you still called “foul!” because Trump feels that being a presidential candidate doesn’t shield you from investigation, even if you did brag about a quid pro quo firing of a Ukraine prosecutor. Oh wait!…Biden is a democrat so he, nor his son should be investigated, although Trump was investigated by a biased and corrupt FBI team prior to and during his presidency. So abuse of power only applies to Republicans?
Obstruction of Congress? How many times did Hillary Clinton lie about her email server? How many times did she lie about Benghazi? Did you call for her removal as Secretary of State? Oh yeah; she’s a Democrat so it’s OK.

I was watching a TV broadcast of President Zelensky tackling this whole fisco and he reiterated that in no time was he pressured into anything remotely smacking of digging up dirt on Biden. It is Joe Biden himself who admittedly threatened Ukraine’s former president Poroshenko to see to it that the chief prosecutor, who was investigating Hunter Biden, be fired. The chief prosecutor was not corrupt at all. He is the one who fought corruption.
Now, every country which was part of the USSR has some corruption because once the USSR fell, there was nothing offered for people to help them become independent. They were so conditioned by the corruption of the USSR which spanned 70+ years.

Have no doubt, we have just witnessed the death of the Democrat Party in real time! I knew this was coming but now that it has actually happened I am disgusted. It makes me sick to my stomach that the democrats have done this to our President. I know he will not be removed from office but I hate that this has happened regardless. Now that it’s over it’s time to go on the offensive and bring the treasonous cowards to justice. They will never be forgiven by us Trump supporters. We came out and voted and got Trump elected but that wasn’t good enough for the democrats, they had to deliver this low blow. This is a sad day for America, a day that has proven to us that the democrats do not value our votes or voices.
