The Concord Police Department is hosting a series of virtual neighborhood meetings regarding the potential creation of a Public Safety Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) program, and they are seeking input from the Concord community.
Small, remotely operated UAS, also commonly referred to as “drones,” have successfully been implemented in public safety agencies across the country, and these programs have proven to be an efficient and effective tool used to enhance first-responder services to a community.
Several first-responder agencies in Contra Costa County have proven UAS programs in place, and the Concord Police Department is looking forward to hearing from community members as the department explores the development options for Concord’s own UAS program.
Each meeting is being organized by neighborhood group. The schedule is:
Monday, May 10: Neighborhood groups: Baldwin Park, Bonifacio/Salvio, East Sun Terrace, Holbrook Heights, Mt Diablo, North Todos Santos, Olivera/Huron, Reitz, and Sun Terrace.
