Concord Police Arrest Man After $50k in Apple Products Stolen

by ECT

On June 29, 2017, at about 4:45 AM, the Concord Police Department received an alarm activation at a cellular phone store (A Wireless) located at 785 Oak Grove Rd.

Concord officers were dispatched to the store and arrived on scene at about 4:55 AM. During their investigation, they found an unsecured door at the rear of the business and evidence the store was burglarized. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. Patrol officers contacted representatives from the store and determined approximately $50,000 worth of Apple iPhone and iPad devices had been stolen.

Investigative leads were developed and we believed the suspect was in the City of San Jose. Police called the San Jose Police Department to advise them of our investigation and they dispatched officers to assist. A house in the 2900 block of Masonwood Dr in San Jose was identified as the place where the suspect and stolen items were located.

Concord detectives started working the case a few hours after the burglary and wrote a search warrant for the house in San Jose. The San Jose Police Department assisted Concord police with the service of the warrant.

After serving the search warrant, stolen items from the burglary were recovered from inside the house. They also found a loaded handgun and several thousands of dollars in cash, believed to be profit from criminal activity.

Police arrested Loi Tuan Tran, a 29-year-old San Jose man, for burglary, felon in possession of a firearm, and drug charges. Tran was later transported to the Contra Costa County Jail and is currently in-custody.

Police are following up with additional leads and working with other police agencies. At this time, we are not releasing additional details due to the active status of the investigation.
