Antioch: Firefighters Limit 2-Alarm Vegetation Fire to 4-Acres

On July 1 at 5:52 pm, Conta Costa County firefighters responded to a report of a vegetation fire behind the Mayan Cinamas.

While responding, Battalion Chief 8 reporting a large column of brown smoke and upon arrival, located a vegetation fire estimated at 2-acres. A second-alarm response was requested to provide structure protection at AT&T on W. 10th Street.

The incident also shut down the railroad tracks as crews worked what appeared to be a possible homeless encampment.

Fire crews were on scene for roughly 2-hours and limited the vegetation fire to 4-acres while protecting all surrounding structure.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
