On Sunday at approximately 11:57 PM, Concord Police officers were dispatched to the
report of a head-on collision that occurred on Willow Pass Road near the Kinne Bridge
(between Highway 4 and Lynwood Drive).
The preliminary investigation indicates a Dodge Journey SUV was traveling east on Willow
Pass Road, crossed the double yellow lines into the oncoming lane, and struck a Toyota
Camry traveling west on Willow Pass Road.
The driver of the Toyota, a female Concord resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male passenger in the Toyota, a Bay Point resident, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Officers from the Concord PD Traffic Unit were called out to the scene and took over the investigation. Willow Pass Road was closed for approximately 4 hours.
The driver of the Dodge, a Bay Point resident, was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries where he was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
