Community Raising Funds to Assist Burgess Hu Family

by ECT

Residents of Discovery Bay, Byron and East Contra Costa County are coming together to help raise funds for the family of Burgess Hu who passed away last week after being struck by an SUV near Excelsior Middle School in Byron.   The funds will be used for funeral expenses is what we are being told.

If you would like to help with the funeral costs for Burgess Hu, you can donate here. They are a very private family and are overwhelmed with this tragedy and didn’t want donations but the cost of Burgess’ service is too much for their family. The funds collected on this fundraising page will be going directly to the family or the family’s facilitator to be delivered to them.

Here is a message from Bill Morganstein about the funds they are collecting:

They are a very traditional family and did not want to accept donations in the beginning. I live in Discovery Bay and all throughout our community there are requests for donations. The Boy Scout leader has also set up a fundraiser if people want to mail a check. Here is his message:

The lady who hit him should pay for the funeral

She probably has donated money herself. There is no need to be nasty. She may want to pay for it all but with the economy the way it is and having children of her own may not make that possible. Go away negative Nancy

Dawn ~ We have 7 billion human beings in our world. Sometimes, there are terrible ACCIDENTS, where no one is at fault! I was a witness to this accident and I can tell you, it was a TRAGIC ACCIDENT. She was not on her phone, she was not distracted, she is not at fault here and she is terribly devastated, I am sure!!! Karma ~ Have you heard of it? You should think about that before you post things such as this!!!

Dawn, you are a cold and heartless person, I will pray for you. This woman did not intentionally run over this child. You should see past your negativity and judgment to consider everything that both families are going through? I hope you never have to deal with such a tragedy in your life. My heart and prayers goes out to the Hu Family as well as the woman and her family. This incident is just truly a tragedy all the way around; a family loses their child, a woman (wife, mother, and human being) lives will be changed forever. This woman will have to deal with this for the rest of her life knowing that she took the life of an innocent child. As a Mother myself, I can say what she has a horribly painful road ahead of her and it is not going to be easy. You should think before speaking.

The family is still looking for witnesses by standing at the sight every morning this week with a sign….so anyone who was a witness please call the authorities so this family can be at peace with it all! Breaks my heart to see this man everyday at the very place we lost this sweet little man!
