CHP: 28 people killed, 362 DUI Arrests Over Christmas weekend

The California Highway Patrol completed its 54-hour Christmas Day Maximum Enforcement period where they averaged a DUI arrest every nine-minutes.

According to CHP, they made 362 arrests for DUI.  They also said 28 people were killed in vehicle crashes throughout California between 6 p.m. on Friday, December 24, and 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, December 26

In 2020, CHP said 38 people were killed and they made 573 arrests for DUI. That was a 78-hour Maximum Enforcement Period.

CHP said with the heavy snow and rain through Northern California, they advise drivers to use caution on the roadways.
