Byron: Man Ejected From Vehicle During Crash, Airlifted to Local Hospital

At 1:23 am, East Contra Costa Firefighters responded to Byron Highway near Bruns Road for a report of a vehicle rollover with injury.

Upon arrival, firefighters from Engine 59 located a solo vehicle crash with a vehicle in a field that had appeared to rollover several times. Firefighters and AMR provided care and transported the patient to the Byron Airport for helicopter transport to a local hospital.

According to the ECCFPD, the driver of the vehicle was ejected from his vehicle which sustained heavy damage. He was the only occupant and no further information was provided.

The incident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.

Editors Note:

During this incident, 20 minutes later a vegetation fire was reported at Bixler Road near and Learning Lane at 1:44 am. This required a response by Engine 59 and Engine 93 along with two engines from Antioch (CONFIRE). Crews were on scene for just under 90-minutes.

For a period of time last night, all of our district resources and aid was in the Byron/Discovery Bay Area.
