Updated: Brentwood Police Identify Suspect in Bank Robbery

At approximately 1:30 pm Wednesday, the Brentwood Police Department responded to a report of a bank robbery at the Tri Counties Bank inside Raleys on Sand Creek in the City of Brentwood.

While responding, Brentwood police located the suspect vehicle and pursued the vehicle into the city of Antioch when the driver exited off Highway 4 at L Street before a foot bail into a garage off Lemontree Way.

After given permission by the property owner to enter the garage, a police k9 from the Antioch Police Department and officers from both Brentwood and Antioch entered the garage where they located the suspect hiding who was taken into custody.

On Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Brentwood officers responded to a reported robbery at the Tri Counties Bank located at 2400 Sand Creek Road. The suspect, described as a white male, in his 20’s early 30’s, wearing all dark clothing and a dark facemask, gave the bank teller a demand note before leaving in a vehicle with an undisclosed amount of money. No weapon was seen during the robbery and nobody was injured.

A Brentwood officer in the immediate area located and pursued the suspect vehicle westbound on Highway 4 at Lone Tree Way. The vehicle pursuit continued into Antioch where the suspect abandoned the vehicle in the 2100 block of Peppertree Way without injuring others. The suspect fled on foot, but after an extensive search was taken into custody.

This investigation is ongoing and no additional information is being released at this time. Special thanks to Antioch PD staff for their assistance.

There is no threat to public safety.

Thursday Update (10:24 am)

BRENTWOOD, CA – The robbery suspect has been identified as Brandon Elder, 26 yearold Antioch resident.

Following the preliminary investigation, Elder was booked into the Martinez Detention  Facility for robbery, felony reckless evading, and several outstanding arrest warrants. In  addition to the arrest warrants, Elder remains in-custody with bail set in the amount of  $150,000.

This will be a true test of our legal system. The last three armed robbery suspects caught by police were set free by the Judge of Contra Costa County. This guy is around the same age, but is white. Let’s see if he gets the same treatment in court.

Don’t shut down the comments! That’s a big part of the draw of your site. Not many sites allow commenting anymore and its nice to be able to see other people’s takes, even if sometimes their takes are ignorant.
