Board of Supervisors Honor Warriors’ Watch Riders

by ECT

The Warrior Watch Riders were honored today by the Board of Supervisors for their hard work and dedication to greeting troops as they return home. I wanted to pass on a photograph to the ceremony and a few statements made by the group today as this is a wonderful group of people doing an amazing job for our troops.

Warriors’ Watch Riders Vision Statement:
THE WARRIORS’ WATCH RIDERS ENVISION A DAY WHEN EVERY MEMBER OF THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES, AT HOME AND ABROAD, AND THEIR FAMILIES, FEEL APPRECIATED, HONORED, RESPECTED AND LOVED BY THE CITIZENS THEY RISK THEIR LIVES TO PROTECT.

The men and women of the United States Armed Forces are the finest generation of young Americans that our country has ever produced. They are the strongest and yet most merciful, the fiercest and yet most welcomed, the most dreaded and yet most compassionate, the deadliest and yet most moral warriors in history. As of June 30, 2008, about 1,427,546 men and women are on active duty in the United States Armed Forces, with an additional 1,458,400 in the seven reserve components. THE WARRIORS’ WATCH RIDERS WILL HONOR EVERY ONE OF THEM.

I briefly spoke to one of their members and she offered the following.

“It was an honor for our group of veterans and patriots to be recognized today of course. But the real honor should go to those in our military, past and present. They sign a contract to protect, defend our great nation. Our job as Warriors’ Watch Riders is to ensure our returning hero’s get all the recognition they deserve,” said Oakley Resident Dede Hodge. ” The overall feeling was honor. Being in the Supervisors chamber today with Veterans that have served from the Korean War, to those that are currently serving. Honored to be in the same room with men and women willing to give their lives for our country. It was a wow experience.”
