BART Update: Bus Bridge Continues, Begin Testing Train Operations

by ECT

Bay Area Rapid Transit announced Monday morning that buses continue this morning between Pittsburg Bay Point and North Concord.

According to Alicia Trost, BART Spokeswoman, we are also periodically running a test train between both stations with riders on board. This helps supplement the buses and gives us a chance to see how the train cars operate through the area with riders on board.

This occurred last night as well.

Crews are looking over the data collected from sophisticated measurement tools that the test train was equipped with over the weekend.  Experts are assisting in this process. The root cause of the spike in voltage has not yet been discovered.

BART-RyanTesting over the weekend found very short spikes of high voltage. The experts are providing a fresh set of eyes to the problem.

Crews have been systematically identifying all possibilities and then eliminating them one by one. While long and tedious it will help crews get closer to the problem.

The car count has improved and as of this morning BART is running 36 more cars than Friday (today’s availability is at 557). We are also exploring alternate suppliers of the spare parts we need. We are cautiously optimistic that the car availability will be on an upward trajectory towards improvement.

BART Communications will provide an update later today after receiving a briefing from staff

The following information was released in a 6:37 am email from BART spokesperson Alicia Trost
