Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Identifies Victim, Suspect in Livermore Homicide

LIVERMORE, CA – On Sunday, Sept. 6, about 2:22 PM, ACSO Deputies responded to the 9200 block of Tesla Road in rural Livermore, CA for a report a man had shot and killed a female family member.

The 38 year old male suspect called and confessed to other family members, who in turn called police. The suspect said he was also going take his own life.

Deputies arrived on scene at the rural ranch house and noticed a female victim down near the front door with an apparent gunshot wound. The male suspect was seen moving in and out of of the residence. The suspect was believed to be armed and it was believed there were multiple firearms in the home.

Members of the ACSO Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU) and Special Response Unit (SRU) responded to the scene. In addition, special technology including drones, robots and K9 were deployed to the scene. The East Bay Regional Parks Police Helicopter provided support along with the Livermore Police Department and California Highway Patrol.

CIU Negotiators were able to make phone contact with the suspect and establish communication. After several successful conversations back and forth, CIU was able to de-escalate the volatile situation. The suspect agreed he would come out of the home without causing further harm.

About 5:15 PM, the suspect emerged from the home with his hands up and was detained without further incident.

According to Sgt. Ray Kelly, PIO of the Alameda County Sheriffs Office, said deputies cleared the residence and located the 51 year old female victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. No other victims were located.

ACSO Detectives responded to the scene and will conduct a thorough homicide investigation.

At this time, we are not providing the name of the victim or suspect as we must speak with next of kin and gather more information.

UPDATE:
Gregory J. Stephens (38) was arrested for the murder of his domestic partner, Kellie Henry (51) in rural Livermore, CA yesterday. He’s been booked into Santa Rita Jail. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Kellie.
